2026 Hyundai Tucson Hero

Hyundai’s bestselling Tucson builds off its 2025 refresh with a slightly restructured lineup and an available performance option for 2026. The automaker has renamed the SEL Convenience trim as the SEL Premium and added over-the-air navigation and mapping updates, which the top-of-the-line Limited also gets. AWD versions of the ruggedly styled XRT now get a trim-exclusive Terrain Mode along with the standard settings for Normal, Sport, My Drive, and Snow. Every trim is also now rated to tow up to 2,750 pounds with trailer brakes, an upgrade from the nameplate’s previous 2,000-pound tow limit.

The Tucson continues to seat five passengers comfortably, with 38.7 cubic feet of cargo space when it’s fully occupied (74.8 with the rear bench stowed). Its range of trims and amenities, from a practical hands-free liftgate to an upscale choice of single or dual-pane sunroofs, makes it a versatile and customizable vehicle. Like every new Hyundai, it’s covered by the automaker’s standard 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and 3 years/36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, and multipoint inspections). This overview focuses on the traditional gas-only Tucson; the Tucson Hybrid and Tucson PHEV are covered separately.

Trims and Powertrain

The 2026 Tucson gives drivers a choice of five trims: SE, SEL, XRT, SEL Premium, and Limited. Its powertrain pairs a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Every trim comes with a front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) but is eligible for Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel drivetrain (AWD). The entire lineup returns 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway with FWD, dropping slightly to 24 mpg city and 30 mpg highway with AWD. The Tucson’s drive mode selector offers Normal, Sport, and the customizable My Drive settings, joined by Snow Mode on AWD versions; the AWD XRT also gets a Terrain mode. Independent MacPherson front struts with coil springs and an independent multi-link rear suspension are found on every trim. The Limited adds column-mounted shift-by-wire and paddle shifters. Every Tucson is outfitted with trailer pre-wiring (the XRT also gets a factory-installed hitch) and can tow up to 2,750 pounds with trailer brakes (and 1,650 lb. without).
