2026 Hyundai Santa Fe
2026 Hyundai
SANTA FE
The Santa Fe has always been a great value, and Hyundai keeps its appeal fresh year after year with various improvements. Although the model was just redesigned for 2025, the 2026 edition nonetheless comes with a few mechanical changes and amenity updates. For instance, dual wireless smartphone chargers, previously exclusive to the top-of-the-line Calligraphy trim, are now standard on the XRT and Limited, and the SEL and XRT now get third-row USB ports. The Limited has ditched the second-row bench seat in favor of a pair of reclining, heated captain’s chairs (the bench is still an option). To top it off, the Calligraphy boasts a new Pecan Brown Nappa leather interior. Under the hood, a new 8-speed automatic transmission has replaced the 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission of old, and the rugged XRT has an additional drive-mode setting called Terrain.
Like every new Hyundai, the Santa Fe is covered by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and 3 years/36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance (including oil changes, tire rotations, and multipoint inspections). Look for our separate overview on the gas-electric 2026 Santa Fe Hybrid.

Buyers of the 2026 Santa Fe can choose from five trims: the SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy. Their powertrain pairs a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission; the output is 277 horsepower and 311 lb.-ft. of torque. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on all but the XRT, which comes only with HTRAC all-wheel drive (AWD), which is an option on the other trims.
The SE, SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy return an EPA-estimated 20 mpg city with either drivetrain, while highway mileage reaches 29 mpg with FWD and 28 mpg with AWD. The XRT drops to an estimated 19 mpg city/25 mpg highway. The XRT leads the lineup with a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 pounds, outpacing the other trims’ 3,500-pound limit when it’s properly equipped. They all have a drive mode selector with Comfort, Eco, Sport, and Smart settings, as well as Terrain Mode on the XRT. Every Santa Fe comes with MacPherson front struts and a multi-link rear suspension, both outfitted with gas-filled dampers and stabilizer bars.
