IONIQ 6 N Preview
Electric vehicles are zippy enough, but those who truly want emissions-free high performance can look to the Ioniq 6 N. This special sedan is set to make its debut soon, giving eco-conscious driving enthusiasts a way to enjoy their on-road passion without the downside of internal combustion. The latest offering from performance-focused Hyundai’s N division follows the IONIQ 5 N crossover with track-ready credibility in a more traditional four-door car body. Driver engagement and efficiency will get equal billing with this new model, which despite its limited production will serve as the flagship for Hyundai’s electrified motorsports division.
N Grin Boost will enable up to 641 horsepower, joining other advanced N-specific features to put the IONIQ 6 N on the same footing as existing performance brands while showing the automotive world a new definition of the electrified sport sedan. Read on to see what we’ve learned so far.

Two motors (one on each axle), an 84.0-kWh battery, and an all-wheel drivetrain will form the basis of the IONIQ 6 N. It’s expected to produce 601 horsepower until the driver engages the exciting N Grin Boost feature, which provides a 10-second burst to 641 horsepower. According to Hyundai, torque will jolt to 568 lb.-ft., with a 0–60 mph time of 3.2 seconds with both launch control and the boost feature in use. The automaker projects 160 mph as the top speed.
An upgraded power system will allow the IONIQ 6 N to provide more output than the standard IONIQ 6. The motor on the rear axle will handle most of the propulsion duties, with the front motor coming in to play during acceleration or for situations calling for added traction. The operator will also be able to continuously choose how the power is distributed between the front and rear axles based on their preference and the driving circumstances.
Chassis and Handling
Hyundai has reworked the IONIQ 6 platform to provide N-worthy performance, starting with suspension tuning that improves stability at high velocity, with superlative grip during cornering. Electronically controlled dampers will be able to instantly adjust to road conditions and the driver’s own style, allowing the vehicle to feel just right for daily driving while remaining firm and controlled should it be taken onto a track.
An electronic limited-slip differential will help put power down more effectively, while added chassis bracing will add stability through body stiffness. Specialized front brakes with four-piston calipers and 15.7-inch rotors will translate to impressive stopping power, supported by a regenerative braking system that can provide up to 0.6G of deceleration. Look for specially formulated Pirelli P Zero tires on 20-inch forged wheels.
Appearance and Aerodynamics
The sporty styling of the IONIQ 6 N will be dominated by wide fenders, sporty bumpers, and an attention-getting rear wing spoiler, which will help boost downforce for plenty of stability at speed while keeping the vehicle aerodynamic with a 0.27 drag coefficient. As this is a performance sedan, you can expect an appropriately low ride height.
The cockpit will be mostly black with Performance Blue details, body-hugging Alcantara-upholstered seats, and a special N steering wheel with dedicated drive-mode buttons. This track-ready sedan will also show off aluminum pedals and knee supports. Buyers can make their exterior color choice from a palette with the expected white, gray, and black hues, plus the more exciting Performance Blue Pearl. Hyundai will offer an array of N Performance Parts for aesthetic customization as well as track readiness.
Driver-Focused Technology
The IONIQ 6 N will be set up with some sophisticated software-managed performance amenities. N e-Shift will mimic gear changes to please enthusiasts who appreciate a traditional driving feel, while N Active Sound+ will let drivers customize the sound profile. N Track Manager will let drivers in the competitive circuit create custom tracks, review their lap times, and compare performance in real time against a previous best lap. The N Drift Optimizer will supply adjustable drift settings, and the N Battery system will precondition the battery for drag, sprint, or endurance driving to ensure more consistent performance.
Safety gets top priority as well, with Hyundai including the SmartSense driver-assist technology bundle, including automatic emergency braking and highway driving assist. The IONIQ 6 N will also charge quickly, with the battery expected to juice up from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes on a 350 kW charger (under peak conditions).
