2019 Hyundai Veloster

The 2019 Hyundai Veloster has a lot to offer Fairfield, Stamford, and New Haven drivers.

The Hyundai Veloster returns for 2019 with a new look inside and out, new engines - conventional and turbo, and more standard features for technology and occupant safety. There are five trims to choose from: 2.0, 2.0 Premium, Turbo R-Spec, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate. Some highlights on the list of standard equipment are the backup camera, Bluetooth capability, rear spoiler, and a touchscreen-controlled audio system. The 2.0 Premium adds Infinity premium audio with eight speakers and 8-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, heated front seats, seat bolsters, a panoramic sunroof, push-button start, and the Blue Link package of services. The 2.0, Turbo R-Spec, and Turbo Ultimate all have a base 6-speed manual transmission, while the 2.0 Premium comes standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Buyers of the Turbo Ultimate can forgo the clutch pedal in favor of a 7-speed Ecoshift transmission with paddle shifters.

Performance

There's an all-new 147-hp 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine in the non-Turbo trims for 2019. The three turbo-charged trims get a 201-hp 4-cylinder 1.6-liter turbo GDI engine, plus a sport-tuned suspension, dual exhaust, leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED headlights and taillights, and alloy pedals. Some notable additions to the R-Spec are Michelin summer tires, and the other Turbo trims get leather seating.

Safety
An impressive slate of active safety features keeps Veloster occupants safer than ever. This includes traction and stability control, rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, collision-avoidance technology, and driver attention and lane keeping alerts. Some of the passive safety features in the Veloster are airbags, front and rear crumple zones, energy-absorbing steering column, and body panel reinforcements.

Technology

Today's drivers (and passengers) want to stay connected while they're on the road. With the 2019 Hyundai Veloster, they'll get Bluetooth (with voice recognition on all but the base trim), color touchscreen audio display, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability as standard equipment. The 2.0 Premium also gets blind-spot monitoring, keyless entry and push-button start, and an eight-speaker Infinity audio system. The 2.0 Premium and the Turbo Ultimate feature a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad.

Passenger Comfort/Cargo Space

The 2019 Veloster adds 4.4 cubic feet of storage space over the previous, with easy loading through the wide hatch. The unique part coupe/part sedan look remains, with one door on the driver's side and two on the passenger side, for everybody's ease of entry. The interior has been upgraded with finer materials and fit, and measures have been taken to reduce road noise and add a touch more headroom.
