2019 Hyundai Accent

The 2019 Hyundai Accent has a lot to offer Fairfield, Stamford, and New Haven drivers.

The affordable and efficient Hyundai Accent is back for the 2019 model year with an updated appearance highlighted by a sporty chrome grille. As expected, it still earns a gold star for fuel economy, getting about 28 mpg around town and up to 37 on the highway for models equipped with a manual transmission (base model only); the automatic transmission is rated for approximately one more mile per gallon on the highway. The 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine makes 130 horsepower.

Technology & Safety

Hyundai likes to pack a lot of features into its economically priced vehicles, and buyers of the '19 Accent will reap the benefits with standard Bluetooth capability (with voice recognition technology on the SEL and Limited), a rearview camera, stability management, traction control, and more. Those top two trims also get dual charging USB jacks (with back-row ports as well) and smartphone connectivity (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) for music and communication via a 7-inch touchscreen audio system. The Blue Link Connected Car Service app is included free for three years so that you can use voice control to start or lock your Accent (along with other functions) through your compatible smart device, Amazon Echo, or Google Home.

Advanced airbag technology and front and rear crumple zones highlight the passive safety features in the Accent, while state-of-the-art active safety features work to make collisions unlikely. The standard-equipment rear camera has dynamic guidelines to indicate how close obstacles are, and electronic stability control, traction control, and a stability management system help the driver keep command of the vehicle. A driver's blind-spot mirror adds to the safety factor on the SEL and Limited, and the Limited gets a forward collision-avoidance system with automatic braking, plus side mirrors with built-in turn signals.

Passenger Comfort/Cargo Space

The Accent has some notable comfort and convenience amenities not always found in cars at such an affordable price point. Audio controls are mounted on the steering wheel for ease of use, and the driver's seat is height-adjustable. On the SEL and Limited trims, heated exterior mirrors melt off the frost quickly in winter weather, and automatic headlight control adds convenience. The Limited trim receives climate control with automatic de-fog, a Proximity Key with push-button start and remote trunk release, and a power sunroof.
