There are six trim packages for the 2025 Kona: SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, N Line S, N Line, and Limited. A front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) and drive mode select come standard, but all-wheel drive (AWD) is available for the entire lineup. On AWD versions of the Kona, the rear torsion bar is replaced by an independent multi-link rear suspension.
The first three Kona trims have a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and an intelligent variable transmission. Its fuel economy ratings vary depending on the trim and driveline. The SE with FWD will achieve an EPA-estimated 29 mpg city/34 mpg highway while the SE with AWD returns 27 mpg city/29 mpg highway. The SEL and SEL Convenience give their drivers an estimated 28 mpg city/35 mpg highway with FWD, or 26 mpg city/29 mpg highway with AWD.
The N Line S, N Line, and Limited upgrade to a 190- horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. With FWD, the fuel economy ratings are estimated at 26 mpg city/32 mpg highway, while AWD slightly decreases these figures to 24 city/29 highway.
As the base trim, the SE gets cloth upholstery, a 4.2-inch digital gauge cluster, two USB ports (front/rear), a 12-volt power outlet, proximity key entry with push-button start, 17-inch alloy wheels, and LED lighting across the automatic combination headlights, daytime running lights, roof-mounted stop light, and combination taillights. The SEL adds black roof rails, heated side mirrors with LED turn signals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual automatic temperature control with second-row air vents, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The SEL Convenience gets Hyundai Digital Key 2 and brings more changes to the cabin with heated front seats, wireless device charging, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and LED interior lighting.
Both the N Line S and N Line have the same racing-inspired elements, including exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels, special front and rear designs, gloss-black side mirrors, a twin-tip exhaust, N Line badging, black Alcantara-upholstered sport seats, ambient interior lighting, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with the “N” logo. The N Line distinguishes itself from the lower S-version with a power sunroof and a Bose premium audio system. The Limited has H-Tex leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, soft-touch door and dash panels, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, a hands-free smart liftgate, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED projector headlights, full-time LED daytime running lights, and LED taillights.
All ‘25 Konas are outfitted with the following Hyundai SmartSense advanced safety features and driver-assist technologies: high beam assist, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian/cyclist detection, blind-spot collision-avoidance warning, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, rear occupant alert, and safe exit warning. The SEL Convenience, N Line, and Limited add navigation-based smart cruise control with curve control, highway driving assist, and the forward collision-avoidance assist feature gains direct oncoming and junction turning detection. Although it’s positioned higher than the SEL Convenience, the N Line S has the same safety features as the SE, as its upgrades are mechanical rather than technology based. The Limited reaches the height of safety tech with a blind-spot view monitor and parking distance warning with reverse/forward/side detection and contour warning.
Every ‘25 Kona comes loaded with the latest automotive tech, including wireless versions of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free with audio streaming, HD Radio, and SiriusXM, all managed via a 12.3-inch color touchscreen. The SE also provides access to Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car system (Basic Package). Onboard the SEL Convenience, N Line, and Limited. the system adds navigation and dynamic voice recognition, and the Bluelink version is upgraded to the Advanced Package. Note that the N Line S comes with the same tech features as the SE even though it’s ranked above the SEL Convenience in the trim lineup. The N Line and Limited both add a Bose premium audio system with eight speakers and an amplifier.
