Trims, Powertrain, and Performance
The 2024 Palisade can seat up to eight (depending on whether its second row is a bench seat or a pair of captain’s chairs) and comes in these trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition. Their powertrain is made up of a 3.8-liter V6 engine (291 hp and 262 lb.-ft. of torque) and an eight-speed automatic transmission; front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. With FWD, the ’24 Palisade will return 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, according to the official estimates done by the EPA. AWD changes the ratings to 19 city/25 highway. This vehicle’s maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds.
Standard and Optional Equipment
The way the SE is equipped, you’d never know it’s a base trim. Its standout features are the aforementioned dual-zone automatic climate control, plus proximity keyless entry, a haptic-feedback steering wheel, 18-inch wheels, automatic LED headlights, heated and auto-dimming side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, and five USB ports (four of which are Type-C). It also has front and rear skid plates, rear privacy glass, 60/40-split bench seats in the second and third rows, LED daytime running lights, push-button start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, quiet mode for the rear seat, an underfloor storage compartment, a 12V power outlet, and a 4.2-inch gauge cluster.
The SEL is upgraded with welcome lights in the door handles, LED taillights, roof rails, a hands-free liftgate, Digital Key, H-Tex-trimmed seats (heated and power adjustable in the front row), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED interior lights, a wireless phone charge pad, and a HomeLink universal garage door opener. Second-row captain’s chairs are standard in this trim, reducing seating to seven (although the second-row bench seat is an option for those who need to seat eight). The Premium Package for the SEL will enrich it with a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated and ventilated second-row seats, an in-car PA system (Driver Talk), a sunroof, 20-inch wheels, position memory for the side mirrors and driver’s seat, rear window sunshades, two third-row USB-C ports, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 115V power outlet, and a few safety and infotainment upgrades (for more details, see the sections that follow).
The XRT’s features list mostly resembles that of the SEL without the Premium Package, plus the sunroof and rear sunshades. Aside from that, this appearance-forward trim has unique 20-inch wheels, two-tone bumpers, black exterior accents, and black H-Tex upholstery. The Limited takes after the fully optioned SEL (meaning the Premium Package has been opted for) and adds leather upholstery, a driver’s seat with power thigh extension, a mélange-design headliner, a heated and power-folding third-row bench seat, 64-color ambient interior lighting, a dual-panel sunroof, a head-up display, and rain-sensing wipers.
The Calligraphy is the epitome of refinement, providing exclusive 20-inch wheels, side-mirror puddle lights, premium rear accent lighting, Nappa leather upholstery, a superior driver’s seat, quilted leather door panels, a microfiber headliner, wing-out second-row headrests, a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a frameless digital rearview mirror. The new Calligraphy Night Edition gets all of that plus black exterior trim and black leather upholstery.
Driver-Assistive Technology
The Hyundai SmartSense safety system is installed on every 2024 Palisade. In the SE, SEL, and XRT, it includes forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection), rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, safe exit assist, rear parking sensors, rear occupant alert, highway driving assist, automatic high beams, and navigation-based smart cruise control.
With the Premium Package, the SEL can be augmented with an improved forward collision system (lane change and evasive steering assist are added), front parking sensors, a more sophisticated highway driving assist system, a surround-view camera, and a blind-spot view monitor. Each of those technologies comes standard in the Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition. Both Calligraphy grades also have Remote Smart Parking Assist (automated parking).
Multimedia
All versions of the ’24 Palisade get a top-shelf multimedia system that’s contained within a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Its components consist of navigation, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), Bluetooth, HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and dynamic voice recognition. The SEL with the Premium Package will have the same elite 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system that’s standard in the Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition.
