The debuting Hyundai Ioniq 6 is made in four trims: SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, and Limited. The SE Standard Range has a single 111-kW rear-axle motor that produces 149 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The other three trims upgrade to a 225-hp 168-kW motor. An additional powertrain upgrade that adds a 74-kW front-axle motor is offered for all but the SE Standard Range; this option increases output to 320 hp and 446 lb.-ft. of torque and opens the door to the AWD option.
According to EPA-determined mileage estimates, the RWD-only SE Standard Range gets a combined MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) of 135, whereas the regular SE’s combined MPGe is 140 with RWD and 121 with AWD. The SEL and Limited are both rated at 117 MPGe (RWD) or 103 MPGe (AWD).
The SE Standard Range can travel up to 240 miles on a single charge. This changes to 361 miles (RWD) or 316 miles (AWD) with the SE. Meanwhile, the RWD-equipped SEL and Limited have a range of 305 miles with RWD and 270 miles with AWD. With a 240-volt at-home charging system, the Ioniq 6’s battery will be replenished in under seven hours – perfect for overnight charging. A DC fast charger, though, will do the job in 18 minutes.
Put simply, the Ioniq 6 is a showstopper. It has a sculpted, low-slung profile with a cascading roof, smooth contours, and a planted stance that gives it an optimal center of gravity (in fact, the Ioniq 6 will have the lowest drag coefficient of any Hyundai to date). To further emphasize the cutting-edge Ioniq brand identity, the Ioniq 6 will display more than 700 unique LED Parametric Pixels (as seen in the Ioniq 5) in various locations throughout the vehicle, including the headlights and taillights.
Both versions of the SE are loaded with premium features, from hands-free trunk access to heated front seats. These two trims also get automatic LED headlights, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, rear privacy glass, proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback. Hyundai heightens the SEL with Digital Key Touch 2 (lets you access and start the vehicle via your smartphone), H-Tex-upholstered seats, 64-color ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a wireless phone charger.
The Limited gets some attractive upgrades, including ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, gloss-black exterior accents, a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding side mirrors, position memory for the driver’s seat, and a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat. A vehicle-to-load system with a standard 120V outlet is supplied as well, allowing you to power and operate external electrical devices such as TVs and laptops.
The Hyundai SmartSense safety and driver-assistance technology suite is standard in the ’23 Ioniq 6. In the SE grades, this bundle consists of forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian and cyclist detection), automatic high beams, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control, highway driving assist, front and rear parking sensors, driver-attention warning, safe exit warning, speed limit assist, and rear occupant alert.
The higher trims add more technologies. The SEL and Limited also get blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, junction turning collision-avoidance assist, enhanced highway driving assist, and an improved adaptive cruise control system. The Limited is the only trim that gets a surround-view camera, a blind-spot view monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (semi-automatic parking support), and parking collision-avoidance assist.
The infotainment system in the Ioniq 6 is contained within a 12.3-inch touchscreen and is used to manage essential features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, and SiriusXM satellite radio. While the SE and SEL receive a basic multi-speaker sound system, the Limited is issued a top-shelf Bose for peak auditory excellence. Every trim is also compatible with Bluelink, Hyundai’s comprehensive suite of connected car services.
