2022 Hyundai Kona EV for Sale in Fairfield, CT
For the 2022 model year, Hyundai has refreshed the five-passenger Kona Electric with a sleeker front end, narrower headlights, and a new taillight treatment. These updates give the electrified Kona a crisp look to help it stand out among the crowd. The improvements aren’t just superficial, though, as this subcompact crossover also has an updated suspension and a quieter cabin, both of which improve an already nice ride quality, as do the increased rear legroom. Note that Massachusetts is one of just twelve states where the 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric is currently being sold.
America’s Best Warranty provides bumper-to-bumper coverage for 5 years/60,000 miles and 10 years/100,000 miles of powertrain protection (including the main battery). Hyundai also includes three years of scheduled maintenance and five years of roadside assistance. While the Hyundai Kona is also available in gas-powered versions, we’ll focus solely on the Kona Electric on this page.
Trims and Specs
The Kona Electric is sold in a pair of trim levels: the SEL and Limited. This front-wheel-drive EV is powered by a 150-kW motor that makes a satisfying 201 horsepower and 291 lb.-ft. of torque. The 64 kWh lithium-ion battery needs just over 9 hours for a full charge using a 240-volt system. Using a 100 kW (Level III) fast charger, the Kona’s battery needs 47 minutes to go from 10% to 80% recharged. The EPA-estimated range is 258 miles (with a full charge), with MPGe fuel economy rated at 132 for the city and 108 on the highway.
Standard Equipment and Options
The SEL is packed with automatic halogen headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, a proximity key entry with push-button start, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, six-way manually adjustable front seats, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, automatic temperature control, a 60/40-split fold-flat rear seatback, a dual-level cargo floor, and advanced driver aids (see below for more information). You can add the optional SEL Convenience Package for a power sunroof, LED interior lights, an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar control, heated front seats, a leather steering wheel, Hyundai Digital Key, a hidden cargo-area storage compartment, power windows with automatic down/up, and a battery warmer system. The Limited gets all of the features of the SEL with the Convenience Package as standard equipment, along with LED headlights and taillights, high-beam assist, rain-sensing windshield wipers, ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Technology and Safety Features
All Kona Electrics receive forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping and lane-following assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning, and rear occupant alert. As the more loaded version, the Limited trim also gets reverse parking distance warning and Smart Cruise Control.
The standard six-speaker infotainment system for the SEL has an 8-inch color touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming capability, SiriusXM satellite radio, front dual USB ports, and access to the BlueLink service for emergency help, vehicle diagnostics, and monitoring the charge status. Wireless device charging is included with the SEL Convenience Package.
The Limited upgrades to a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation. Smartphone integration switches to a plug-in setup, as the larger screen isn’t compatible with the wireless version. The Limited also gets a Harmon Kardon audio system, dynamic voice recognition, and a rear USB outlet.
