2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

The Hyundai Santa Fe returns for 2019 with new standard features - including some exciting technology upgrades - and a new identity, as it replaces the Santa Fe Sport. This change comes with the introduction of the Santa Fe XL, a seven-seat SUV. As a five-passenger crossover, the Santa Fe is a winner for drivers wanting a blend of efficiency, fun, and utility.

There are seven trim levels to choose from: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, Limited 2.0, Ultimate, and Ultimate 2.0T, all of which come with Shiftronic automatic transmission in either two-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. Two of the trim levels, the Santa Fe Limited 2.0T and the Santa Fe Ultimate 2.0T, feature a 235 hp 2.0-liter turbo engine, as their name implies. The other trims are powered by a 185 hp inline 4-cylinder engine. Standard equipment is highlighted by a 7-inch display audio system (8 inches on the Ultimate and Ultimate 2.0T) and two-way power lumbar support for the driver (upgraded to four-way support on the Ultimate trims). The FWD models with the standard engine achieve fuel economy of 22 city/29 highway/25 combined, while the AWD models get 21/27/23, The 2.0T trims reach 20/25/22 for FWD and 19/24/21 for AWD.

As Hyundai's most technologically advanced SUV ever, the 2019 Santa Fe is packed with state-of-the-art features for safety, media access, and connectivity. These standard features include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front and rear USB outlets (two for each row), and steering wheel-mounted controls for managing audio, Bluetooth, and cruise control. A convenient hands-free smart liftgate and Infinity premium audio system with twelve speakers and Quantum Logic Surround grace all trims from the SEL Plus upward. The Ultimate and Ultimate 2.0T come equipped with 8-inch touchscreen navigation and wireless device charging capability. Blue Link is available on most trims to enable voice-activated search and systems control, from managing cabin temperature to remotely locking, unlocking, and starting your Santa Fe through your compatible device.

This new generation of Santa Fe offers the highest safety yet, thanks to state-of-the-art active and passive safety features. These include driver alert warnings, a rear monitor with parking guidance, stability management, and collision-avoidance assist for forward traffic, pedestrians, blind spots, and rear cross traffic. Every trim is also outfitted with airbags, crumple zones, and bodyside reinforcements to protect occupants in the case of collision. All but the base model have heated side mirrors to melt frost and ice, plus fog lights to maximize visibility in poor conditions.

Passenger Comfort/Cargo Space

Air conditioning is standard on all Santa Fes, but the trims from SEL Plus upward get dual front auto temperature control with CleanAir Ionizer. The comfort factor is maxed out on the Ultimate trims, which get heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The crossover's spacious interior boasts an additional inch-and-a-half of legroom over the outgoing Santa Fe Sport and comfortably accommodates five passengers and their belongings. The 60/40 split rear seats and ample cargo area make it easy to load and carry a good amount of stuff. The new Santa Fe's lowered dash and increased glass area make for a more open feel and better visibility for the driver. A panoramic sunroof is available on the Limited, Limited 2.0T, Ultimate, and Ultimate 2.0T.
